We’re becoming an academy?! What does that mean?

Everyone will probably know that Compton is becoming an academy now. But what does this mean for us?

Things that will change

- Compton will now be independent from the local authority. - We won’t have to follow the national curriculum anymore, so will have opportunities to change the way and what we learn.
- Compton will be able to pay the staff whatever they like. - We will have the ability to change the lengths of holidays and terms.

Things that will stay the same

-Compton will still have the same funding but will be able to control how they spend it.

What else?

-Only schools that were rated outstanding in the last Ofsted inspection can become academies.
-Primary, secondary and special schools can become academies.

So what do you think? Should we become an academy or should we stay the same?

I think it would be nice to become a academy but as long as our holiday's are not shorter :)

I am in year eleven does it affect me

I won't mind becoming a academy as long as they don't make our holiday's short!!!!! =)

I think that is a great thing but will the badge on our jumpers and blazers change and if not why? as it will show every child that we are an academy and not a normal school so we shine above the rest.
