Thursday 25th November 2010 was this year’s Eco-Enterprise Day (A.K.A. Business Enterprise Day) and instead of the year 10’s ‘hosting’ it, this year was the Year 9’s turn!
A while before the day of Eco-Enterprise, all the year 9’s had to go through Dragon’s Den. We had to prepare a pitch to show to 4 people (the Dragons). They were to decide whether they want to invest in our business or not. The Dragon’s were very formal and it was quite nerve-racking to go up and present to them! Each of the Dragon’s had a pack of £5 notes in their hands (fake ones, of course!) and if they wanted to invest in the business, they would give the company some money.

In my opinion, this was a good idea as we (as a business) got to see our strengths and weaknesses from another point of view, and we got opinions from people who know what they’re talking about! The year 9’s had a term of DT lessons to finish everything, which means working out the business plan, doing the Dragon’s Den pitches, planning and making products and have everything completed for the day of Eco-Enterprise.
The DT department have a day like this (Eco/Business Enterprise) every year. The stalls are normally up and running throughout Break & Lunch, but this year it was decided to only run through Lunch. All years did get an extra 10 minutes Lunch on Thursday 25th November so they can have a look around the stalls. There were loads of things on sale, including hair-bands, bows, key rings, Christmas cards, bags, money boxes, horns, cookies, cakes, pizzas, notebooks and many more great things to choose from!
There were also loads of bargains, like 3 for 2, or buy 1 get 1 free, it was crazy! Overall though, I had a great day, it was scary at first and very crowded at times, it was a fun experience, and I would definitely want to do that again! Good Luck to the people doing it next year!

I loved Eco-Enterprise day and I got a Maryland Cookies fridge magnet, a Coke money can and a bow (which broke when I put it on)! ECO ENTERPRISE WAS AMAZING!!
