Austria Tip

We set off on Boxing Day afternoon along with Mr Hammond, Mr Merit, Mr Kirkby, Mr Stricktland and Miss Hand for what would be mine and many others final ski trip. We were all very excited but this year’s “no energy drink” policy meant we were able to control our excitement a lot better than previous years.

The different stops made the 23 hour journey a lot of fun although some people felt the need to take thousands of pictures at every stop. Just before reaching the hotel we stopped at Intersport where we hired our ski equipment. We all made our way back on the coach where we spent the last part a long journey comparing helmet sizes and laughing at the size of our friend’s heads.

I saw I had the smallest size helmet which put my “my head is too big for my body” worry to rest. Not long after I got told my head is actually too small for my body. On the coach we met Stan. Our rep that we were very excited about. We were disappointed soon find out that Stan was most definitely not “The Man”. The hotel was lovely with lots different facilities available to us and the nice dinner left us optimistic for future dinners on the trip.

We had our first few day of skiing at a new resort and it was great. Our ski instructor Fabian felt a growing need for revenge against Mr Kirkby for pushing us all over. Whilst on the slopes we calmly waited for Mr Kirkby and the rest of his ski group to arrive where things soon descended into a large snow fight leaving Mr Kirkby completely covered in snow. I think it’s safe to say that Fabian got his revenge. We enjoyed our evening activities especially the large football tournament. Congratulations to Mona Rahman Panah our head girl for scoring the winning penalty.

New Years Eve quickly arrived where the whole ski trip were in fancy dress. This year we had some truly special outfits including Scooby doo, a penguin, a whoopee cushion and a very cool Luigi from the Super Mario Bros. We had previously planned to enjoy hot chocolate from the ice bar on New Year’s Eve which we were supposed to build the night before but that did not work out so well. (It also descended into a snowball fight). We had good time with Karaoke, a disco and special ending to the night with what turned out to be a surprisingly crazy party with an Austrian orchestral band playing some German hits. We enjoyed our last few days skiing and soon it was time for us to come home. On the coach we were all given awards and we felt we would give the teachers their own special awards this year.

Thank you very much Mr Hammond and all of the teachers for making the ski trip extremely successful this year and every other year. I will really miss it. I recommend the Ski Trip to everyone. It’s an experience you will always remember.
