And here is a review of February’s book of the month, Exodus
Exodus by Julie Bertagna
Exodus captures you in the first chapter with the date in which it is set – 2100. The ice caps are melting and the world is flooding, Mara and the islanders of Wing are struggling to stay alive, and so when Mara hears of the New World she gathers the islanders and sets off on a voyage across the sea, but the New World is not as expected.
Mara, a lead character in the novel, is a strong, independent young girl who fights for what she believes in. Fox, a mystery boy from the New World, is just as strong willed as Mara and feels an outcast in his own world. Julie is very descriptive within the book; she creates a whole new world that whisks the reader away from normal life. The plot of the novel is very clever as not only is it an interesting read but it also sends a true message about what we are doing to our earth.
I would say the potential audience for Exodus is for young adults from 12 upwards. I think exodus is a brilliant read, truly exhilarating and compelling. I would definitely recommend this book as it has plenty of meaning and also an enticing romance.
