Parenting Skills Support Group

How to tackle your teen! Strategies for helping to create a happier, calmer home life!

The parents’ group has met regularly throughout the autumn term to share ideas and strategies with each other. The group has discussed behaviour management, models and influences, your child’s responsibilities, the transition from primary to secondary and numerous other aspects of raising teenagers.

All the parents who attend have been wholly positive about the group and the informal support structure it has offered. Parents report that they have felt more confident and better equipped to tackle issues which have arisen with their teenager because of the strategies and support offered by the group. ‘Sometimes, it is just knowing that someone else is facing the same conflicts at home and that you are not the only one which helps!’ was a comment made by one parent. The group will be having further sessions in the new year and hopefully an outsider speaker to present on the transition from secondary to primary.
